Perms , curlers, salonvisits, haircapes …

Nice “toys” II , part III

Thanks that so many readers here keep coming back and liking the things I write and show. Always nice to hear from you per Email etc.

So yes I still get my hair permed in a salon, my current perm was done less then 3 weeks ago. I really like this hairdo, it looks good and is easy to maintain, strangly enough not too many perms are done here. Perhaps the occasional elderly lady, but further?  Where in the Ukrain many woman get perms and wow those look amazing ! Maybe one day that trend will go over the whole world again?

This photo comes from  that salon in Kiev. They do a lot of special permwinds there, the method with stacking lots of rods on top of each other seems to be done very often. In the USA it is called Piggy-back-wrap.

So lots and lots of rods are used then, I believe that I once read somewhere that did a more then 250 rodwind once!

Since the theme is about ” new toys ” ,  I got myself a nice of blackpermrods.

And I was not too unhappy of how the winding turned out.. So many more people seem to enjoy going to a salon and get perms, it is nice to hear from you… and maybe we can see each other over Skype per webcam one day?

Choices to make…part IV

Today I made a choice to go to “my” Salon,  the local Cut & Go… and as he name of the Salon says… it was Cut & Go-time.

Normally I first walk by the side with the huge windows to peek inside what is going on, this time I came from the other side and directly went in. I opend the door and smellt a perm being done, I look in the back and saw an elderly woman being permwound on red rods,  but close to me there was a woman “baking”  under a climasun with blue-rods ( like my perms), I hung my coat away and seated in the waiting area, 4 woman where waiting.

I look through the salon and at the first washingstation and younger woman was being neutralized of a perm on blue rods, I must have hit the “Jackpot” today… 3 perms being done, oh boy. Yes that did exited me very much.

I had to wait sometime this time but with a room filled with permsmell, and I could look directly to 2 woman getting a perm… why does time go so fast?   After some 20 minutes of waiting it was myturn,  this styliste cut my hair once before, today she was working on a chair on the right outside of the photo, normally an other styliste works there but she was on holiday. This chair is next to the waitingarea and the little room where he stylists go for a snack etc.

We walked to her chair and before I sat down, she asked “A perm?” … “well no” I responded,  “ah ok, then a cut with wash?”.  “Yes”  I replied. She directed me to the washingarea, the first bassin ( so the one where a neutralizing was done just minues before), she put a blue towel over my shoulders and I leaned back.  She washed my hair twice and put a towel over it, back to the styling chair.

She drapped a nice dark blue cape on me, and asked “Cut about 2 cm?”  , and showed it with her hands.  I said “no less please , or is my hair so bad?” .. “No” she said “We can do less” … So we went for 1 cm. Why so less?  Well I really like my hair longer, the last styliste that permed me some 10 weeks back kinda cut away a bit much.. she does her job well but I rather have longer hair ( now it’s still possible).

Tanja ( I saw her name on the mobile-permroller-tray) and later on the “bill”, used some clipper to keep my hair up and started in the back. When shes strechtes my hair down to cut it it goes below my shoulders, offcourse with the effect of the perm / curls it “looks”  shorter. She did a very nice cut, we didn’t talk very much.. I didn’t feel very comfortable so close to the waitingarea. She even cut in front even less then 1 cm, which I totally love because there I like it long, sometimes those hairs can touch the tipp of my nose. The cut didn’t took very long in time. She asked “Some mouse in it, and under a dryer?” ..  I said “yes please, that would be nice” .    So she put some mouse in my hair, the kind they use has a smell like flowers etc.. I love it, then she went away to get the silver mobile climasununit and clicked it on. I spend at least 15 minutes under it and played a few Soduko’s on my Nintendo DS.

My curls looked super again. We went to the cashregister and I paid her € 10,- .. Since I now had 10 payslips from this Salon I could get a € 5,- refund.. I gave her those,  she counted them and I got € 5,- returnd. I left a small tipp for Tanja.

I always love it there at the Salon,  later I noticed the names of some of the stylists there: Anna, Sandra ( now even 2), Diana , Tanja… all end on a “a”  and even more fun a person that I have met over this and who I really like also has a name that ends on “a” … live is full of nice things, isn’t?

So I made my hair “ready” for an upcoming perm, which will be something special… just hang on to this blog, or perhaps chat with me on yahoo-messenger to know more about it.

The past, the present and the future … ? part III

A few years ago I decided it was time to really “feel” how it is to have a perm done. In March 2006 my very first real perm was done but one year before that I was a model at a hairdressingschool for a permwind.

Doing permwinds is a bit “hard” so students have to practise that more then once, on a mannequinhead they start but then they have to switch to a real head which has a less then perfect hairgrow and headshape.. and offcourse a real Person moves and complains if things are uncomfortable. So I got a nice permwind one day, all blue rods. It took her almost 1 hour to wind me. That’s also the reason they have to practise that , to get faster doing it. For an exam they should be able to do a wind in 45 minutes or less.

After my first real perm was done, I decided to look for someone that was looking for a permmodel. I found a woman that could need a model for a perm, so I decided to go for it. I liked it so much, it took longer than in a salon and for less then € 17,-  a  wash / perm / dry …. wow. So I went back again for an other perm a few months later and after that went back once more so she could get more speed in winding. That last time she did 2 permwraps on me, a normal 6 /9-part wrap, that took her a bit less then 45 minutes. After that a brick-lay-pattern , but that took almost 1 hour.

Me during the 2nd real perm done at that school.

A few weeks back a local salon here had an “ad” in the window… “looking for hairmodels” , since they asked on that small paper for everything including perms, I decided to go for it. Went by the salon last week and talked with the owner, he said it was ok if I wanted it next week after making an appointment over telephone, so I did just that.

So 2 days back I went there. A younger woman was allready waiting for me. We went back in the shop, this salon is 4 rooms of stylingstations “deep”. In the first only 2 bigger chairs for men, in the other 3 rooms there are 3 or 4 places per room. We went to the last room, an elderly woman wss getting a wetset, and my place was next to her. My stylist came back with a book full with modern men-cuts… because that’s what she tought I was there for. She was almost ready with her 2 years of beautyschool, an only needed a man for a short cut… well not me;) .  I told her that I only wanted the ends of.

She put a black cape on me, with a small white text on it and ask me to follow her to the washingplace. Every chair in these last 3 rooms had a own forwardwashplace and the mirrors had a frame like a painting, so a bit “old”, in the whole salon there was just one place to do a backwash. She washed my hair twice and did a firm job.. it felt great, and after that a conditioner. With a towel around my head we went back to the last room. There she dried my hair a bit and started cutting it. As always my curls looked better and better after loosing 1 – 1,5 cm.

After the cut she blowdried my hair, I looked like a exploded poodle. Then she put some stuff in it that would help to make it less of a volume… but I still didn’t really like it.

She did a good cut , but I think she was not happy because she didn’t find a model for her male-exam, and I wasn’t happy beause I didn’t like how I looked when I left the salon. I told her that I maybe know someone suited for waht she needs and left the salon, shortly after that went to a toilet and made my hair wet to gave me my curls back … then I was happy again.  btw the photo was taken after I made my hair look like what I like / want.

So this was the 3rd person I was model for, I had high expectations and those expectations where too high. So I leave it at that… next visit to a salon will be my trusty salon again.

Perm number 15, Friday 6th November 2009

Today I went to my favourite salon from Cut and Go for a perm (or Dauerwelle in German), my 15th perm ever.

I arrived at the salon 12:30 orso, it was not a busy day.

On my favourite chair between the windows a woman was getting a perm done…

I had to wait some 20 minutes, but that was no problem. A young woman came and asked “for who are you waiting?” ( this salon works on a walk-in-basis you can’t reserve a time / stylist,  but offcourse you wait longer for the one you want if you wish), to me it doesn’t matter all that much all stylists there are well trained woman that can do everything very well. So I told her “I am waiting for you?” , infact I kinda was hoping in advance she was there today. She allready permed me once there, and one time just a cut.

We walked to the same chair where I had my last cut done, so left outside the photo. She asked “What can we do?” , I replied “Well my curls need to be redone”, “ah” she replied “So a perm, let see your card”. I showed her the card, then she asked “You are happy with curls that way?” , “Yes” I said. She asked me to come to the washingplace ( first one on the left)

She put a towel over my shoulders and after I leand back she make my hair wet and askes if the temperature was ok, it was nice warm so I said “everything ok”.  She washed my hair and rinsed out all the shampoo using a towel dried my hair a bit and left the towel on my head, we went back to the chair. There she put a nice dark blue cape on me and went away to get the permrods etc.

She came back with lots of permrods, she was going to use red/blue ones on top and blue ones for the rest. red/blue are with 10 mm a little bit tighter then blue which are 11 mm . In total 49 permrods where used. She asked during the winding “Is it too tight?” , well yes you can feel it it but I kinda like that feeling so I replied “no not a problem”, after the wind was completed which took some 30 minutes she use permrodsticks to keep the rods together, then it felt even more tight.

She went away for the permfluid and returend with a lot of cotton, yes I always love that. she used some creme around my face and drapped the cotton in place, after that she started applying the fluid. It felt cold, and I still love the smell of it. After the fluid was all put on the rods a mobile climasun was lowered on me and I had to sit and wait for > 20 minutes, what a drag. 😉  During the time I had to sit under the climasun I could see the other perm being done, that woman was coming back from the washingbowl with some very nice curls. Then the Climasun made a “PIEP” and Anna returned to look at how the curls are, she unwinded 2 rods and she was satisfied so she directed me to the washingbowl.

First she rinsed out the permfluids, that part always hurts a bit in the neck laying in washingbowl for 5 minutes or more and permrods between you and the washingbowl. The water was nice warm, then she was going to put the neutralizer in, she warned me that it could be cold, and it is…. but I kinda like all of this, feeling the permrods etc. After she was done with the neutralizer she put an extra towel between me and the washingbowl, that was a good feeling. I had to wait again, perms take a long time. 😉  But every minute is fun. I always look around the salon then, but today was not a busy day.

The neutralizer was done so it could be rinsed out. Then all the 49 rods where removed , I felt my head losing a lot “weight” , again some neutralizer in my hair again some rinsing and after that some condioner (always good for your hair), back to the stylingchair.

I just wanted to loose the deadends, so about 1 cm was cut off. Wow did these curls look curly. But that always with a fresh perm, a perm looks it’s best after 1-2 weeks. My hair was dried under a climasun with some mouse applied to it.

At the cash-register I paid the € 29,- and put  bit in Anna’s local “bank” 😉 , very very satisfied again I left for home. Right now I still can smell the fresh perm.. mmmm

Next salonvisit?, perhaps end of December or maybe early January. Next perm? most likely mid February 2010.

To cut or not to cut?

This Tuesday it was been 2 months since my last perm, so I decided to have my cut a bit.

As always I walk by the big windows a peek inside before entering, wow.. at the last washingplace a person was getting a perm. So I openend the door and directly noticed the smell of the perm being done, I put away my coat and seated myself in the waitingarea. 4 people where waiting, so perhaps this time I had to wait a bit longer? No problem enough to see in the salon, the woman at the sink was getting a perm and an other woman got a wetset.

I had to wait for about 20-30 minutes but with Sudoku on my DS that’s not a problem, and offcourse it’s fun to see some salonaction.  The woman with the perm did not even took a cut after her perm… so with € 13,- she was ready, this salon is nice and cheap.. I love it. And after 10 times you get a € 5 refund.

The wait was over , this time I got  a styliste that I have never before. Her workingplace is just outside the photo, on the leftside. She asked what to do, I said “about 1 cm off?”  then she asked “shall we wash it aswell?” “Yes, please” I replied. She got a nice dark blue cape and put it on me, we went to the washingplace ( the 2nd on the photo) and she washed my hair twice. After that back to the stylingchair.

She was very nice and seemt very young to me so I asked “Are you new here?” … She said “No I have been away for more then year because of my baby” … So that explains why I never seen here before. She used clippers to keep my hair up, wow… at the back my hair is very very long now, but I love it. She nicely trimmed all my hair, and the curls looked “new” again, it is always a good idea to trim permed hair… it keeps the curls very nice. She took about 20 minutes to cut my hair, afterwards she used mousse and I was dryed under the climasun.

Very happy with my looks I paid € 10,- and left again.

This styliste was very nice and did a good job on me, perhaps one day she can do my perm there? I asked her which days she worked, she is Monday en Tuesday off (but today she swapped with someone), so for my perm, which will follow in november, I will go back again to this Cut and Go-salon on a Thursday or Friday, so many of my favourite stylists are there.

..going to the salon? or not?

I am thinking about visitting the salon again. Tuesday it’s been 2 months since my perm was done.

So perhaps I go in for a Cut & Go,  ok Wash, cut dry / pay ( a bit ) and Go. I love that salon, nice stylists, nice prices. To anyone living in Hanover regio… try one of their many salons, it’s worth it.

What about you all? Do you go a salon in a few days/ weeks?

On 18  September 2009 I posted this , the serie is called “Ashes to Ashes” and it’s amazing, I am following it now. The actrise is called Keeley Hawes and she lookes suberb in that role and look… wow those curls… hmmmm. A male actor also has curls , Dean Andrews but his curls are made on the set with a curling set, no perm ( booooo 😉 ) , so perhaps you wanna see the show?  Make contact with me and I will help you.

Perm number 14

Last Thursday it was D-day again, D stands for Dauerwelle which is German for perm.

I went to my favourite local salon called Cut and Go , I like that salon they have very fair prices.

I choose a quiet day, only one woman waiting when I arrived. I was greeted by one of the stylist who said to “You haven’t been here in some time” , and she was right. My last visit there was almost 6 months ago.

So my wait was short and the stylist from the photo said it was my turn, we walked to the chair in the photo and she asked “What can we do?” I pointed to my hair and she said “Ah yes, curls?” , “Yes” I replied. I put my bag at the place and we went to the washingbowl. She put a towel on my shoulders and made my hair wet with water , she asked “not to warm or cold?” I replied “No just perfect a bit cold but better than the heat outside ( it was a warm day )” . Then she started washing my hair and said “I am not doing it to firm?”. She was using some force, it felt firm but no problem with me so I told her “it’s ok”. She washed my hair twice and after that we went back to the stylingstation. There she used the towel aroud my head to dry my hair a bit and put an other towel over myshoulders before putting on a black cape. She went away to get the stuff needed. She came back with cotton, a big “bucket” of creme, 2 sets of permlotion and left for the rods. Then a trolley with permrods came.. all blues and some 2 color-ones blue/gray.

She asked how I wear my hair to the left or right perhaps, I said I devide it in the middle. She asked because otherwise she does the winding a bit different (she onced permed me before and then she wound the rods in the front from left to right instead of backwards).

She started winding my hair on rods, and we talked about lots of things. I really enjoy this, and she used those permrodholders too so every rods was felt very tightly. Almost 25 minutes went by and my head was full of permrods. Looked nice. The she applied some creme againts my forehead and put a cottonstring around my head. She took the first bottle and applied the lotion, the 2nd one was quickly sed because the first one was almost empty. Then the Climasun was lowered and I had to “bake” for 20 minutes.

During this time the stylist started working on an other customer. So back to the washingbowl, to rinse out the harsh stinky chemicals, before putting in more chemicals… yes perms are fun 😉 . So I was rinsed for some 5 minutes before the neutralizer-foam was put in. This at the washingbowl was done by an othe stylist because “mine” Ingrid, was still busy. Now I had to wait for the neutralizer to work, I look to the other side of the salon and an older woman was getting a permwind, on yellow and pink rods. After 20 minutes of waiting in the washingbowl Ingrid came and rinsed out the foam and removed the rods. “That must feel much lighter” she said, “yes” I replied. But offcourse I really like that time with permrods in my hair.

Back at the stylingchair we decided to cut off 1,5 – 2 cm , so my length is still very good. and after the cut the climasun was used to dry my nice new curls.

I was very satisfied again and during the cut I noticed how long my hair in the back really is… wow.. but I love this length. I paid her € 29,- , that’s right… 2,5 hours in this salon a wash / perm / cut for just € 29,- in fact the perm is € 19,- the cut € 10,- and washing is free. And I put some money in her cow-bank aswell ( a piggybank in the shape of cow )

Needless to say I had a nice time, and in 2 months orso I will visit that salon again.

It would be nice to hear something of one of my readers here.

Thursday 4th December 2008, Cut and Go

At that day it had been 7 weeks and 2 days since my last perm, so I went in for a Cut & go, or better a wash-cut-dry-go.

Shortly before 17:00 I arrived at the salon, and there was a woman and a men waiting before me, in the salon there was not much going on, they where gonna close at 18:00 so that was to be expected.

The woman from the photo came and asked “Who’s next?” , I looked left and right from me because they where there before me, but they waited for some else orso. So it was my turn.

I allready knew this stylist, she once permed my hair and a few months after that she give me cut. We walked away from the waitingarea and I almost dropped my bag at the wrong chair, normally she works at an other chair, but today at the window (like on the photos), normally Melanie works there, later I heard that Melanie has every Thursday off. So today it’s Ingrid’s workingplace.

I said down and she asked “Just al little bit off?”. “Yes” I replied. She asked me to go to the washing place. There she put a towel on my shoulders and gave me very nice and double hairwash. After the wash she put a towel arouw my hair and we went back to he windowchair.

“So about 1 cm off?” she asked, “indeed I said, at the back 1 cm but in the front less”. She took away the towel and used a clipper to put all my long hair in the back up. The she put a neckstrip on me, that was the 2nd time of all my visits in that salon that a neckstrip was used.

After that she took a black nylon cape with hookfastening, like my black cape with “ksss..”

She put parts of hair up and started cuting in the lower back, I saw my curls getting better and better.

She took about 20 minutes to cut my hair and then she left me under a climasun-unit to dry. In total I spend about 45 min in the salon and it was very nice again. I paid her € 10,- and we said to each other to have a good new year, my next visit there will be in the first or second week of January 2009, then again it’s permtime.

8 December 2008 Posted by | Salon visits | , , , , , , | Leave a comment

Tuesday September 16th

It was only 2 months after my last perm, so I thought some length could go.

I went back to my favourite salon Cut & Go last Friday, but when I came there I was very crowed and in 90 minutes they where going to close. So I decided to come back on Tuesday, so I did.

I walked by and saw an almost empty salon, I entered and put my Jacket away and went to the waiting area. This waiting Area is not shown in the photo but it’s to the right of the photo, the place behind the chairs on the rightwall-side has a toilet for the people that work there and they store stuff like permfluids / dye etc there.

The moment that I wanted to sit, Melanie came from this room, she said “hello”, so I replied back. I believe she was very pleased to see me again ( remember, she did my perm the last time). There was an other woman wating so I was going to be second in wait, since Melanie was in that room it was obvious she was wating for a next client.

Then an other woman came from that room and also said “hello”, this time I let her notice me but I didn’t say anything, I believe my toughts where somewhere else. So I only knoted.

Then Melanie came again, and asked the woman “your next, come please” … I tought “that’s having a bad luck” but before those toughts where really there, she said to me “You can come too”.

She directed the woman to her colleque and I could seat at her chair, in the back on the left, beside the window.

She said “only a cut this time?” … I said “yes indeed” … So she said “First we will wash your hair”

We went to the washingarea where she put an towel in basin, I sat down, and she began making my hair wet. “Is it not too hot?” she asked. “No” I replied. The water was ok, it was getting it a bit warm but that was due to her.. since my last visit I believe I have falling in love to her. And she is giving some signals back that she likes me too.

After a double hairwash we went back to “her” chair, she put a nice dark blue haircape on me and asked “Only the ends off?” . I said yes “about one centimeter orso”

She started to put all my hair up with lots off those hairclippers, that kinda looks girly-like. But that way it’s easier fo her to cut my hair from the bottom up. My hair back has a lenght of 10-12 cm orso. She showd me how many she cut off, that looked perfect, since hair grows with about 1 cm per month , she cut 1,5 cm away so my hair is now longer as after the perm some 2 months back. She cut my hair in 2 steps, step 1 , the length… and step 2… some part extra. I asked her why she did that, she explained that I have lots of hair and if everythings is a t exactly the same length that the curls will flatten out under the weigth, this way the result will look more natural.

Some 20 minutes went by where she cut my hair… I looked in her eyes when I could, and felt really exited, and this time it couldn’t be the perm because not only I wasn’t getting a perm, but in the whole salon there was NO-perm activity… No, I felt this because I really really like this woman. I kept thinking “How can I ask her?” … because that’s not a normal conversation between a hairdresser and her client, and offcourse nothing of any interest to others in the salon.

After the cut was finished she showd me using a mirror the result, I was very pleased. She got hold of the mobile climasun ( a Hairmasterunit), and lowered it over me. She asked if I could use something to read, but I replied “no, please” because 15 minutes is not that long. after 15 minutes she checked me but my hair was still not dry, together we decided too wait an other 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes she came back and took away the climasun and cape. We went to cashregister and I paid her the € 10,- … I was very happy again, and this time a little bit double because last time I allready noticed that she like me, and offcourse I like her, but now I even have a more good feeling about her… but how can I make contact with her? I can not just walk into the salon one day just to asked such a thing.

Right now I have decided that I have my hair permed next month (in 4 to 5 weeks) and I want it done by her, so I will let other people that are waiting before me as long I can’t be helped by her. In this salon it’s not possible to make an reservation. So let’s see what I can think off before my next visit.

Tuesday July 22, 2008

And I went to my favourite hairsalon again.

It was perm-time again.

An other woman helped me this time, Melanie, and I was seated at the right chair in the back. She once cut my hair on the left chair. The stylists in this salon have each two chairs to work with so If one customer is drying under a dryer or climasun, a second one can have a cut orso.

Shes aked “What can I do?” , so I said “A perm please”… she “A perm? When was the last done?” , me “Three months back”. Then the stylist next to this chair said “Yes, He always takes his perms every 3 months “. She could know , she did my last one there.

We went to the washingplace and my hair was washed twice, after we came back to the styling chair and she started rolling my hair, this time I helped her with holding up the little box with the endpapers. She used 49 rods, some 40 blue ones and for my “crown” she made an pattern with blue/red ones ( those are a bit tighter then blue ones ), the winding took her 25 minutes. I was caped under a black cape, and under the cape was an darkblue towel over my shoulders, an other towel was on top and was close using a plastic thingie.

She put cotton round my head after applying the niveacreme, the lotion followed. The next 25 minutes I spend under the climasun, just love it. My dick was hard again, in the back an other perm was done, that woman was very lucky , she was sitting between the windows, I love that place.

After 25 minutes she raised the climasun and unwinded one permrods, she decided to give it a few more minutes, I didn’t mind that.

She rinsed my hair at the washingplace some 5 minutes and dried it use a towel, no the place where she wound my perm was occupied by a woman getting a dyjob ( done by the other stylist that did my last perm there), she had to use the chair because 2 chairs share only one climasun, both her clients where under one. They have a few mobile climasuns aswell so I will probably be put under a mobile one after the cut.

After the rinse the put the neutralizer in my hair, it was my first perm where the stylist used plastic gloves during this and the permfluid-part. I was left in washingplace for some 20 minutes, that always hurts a bit in the neck 😦 , so I lean forward and look to other customers instead of the ceiling, just love seeing the reactions as a man is getting a perm.

After even a longer time she came back and started to unwind those permsrods, I heard them falling one after the other in de sink. “Too bad the time with permrods in my hair will be over soon” I tought… but then again almost 1 hour and 15 minutes between the first one going in and the last one going out, isn’t that bad, is it?

She washed my hair and put some special creme in it, then it was back to the stylingchair, this time the left one , because the right one was still being used.

I looked in the mirror and saw the curls, and then the stylist winked at me, I smiled.. I think she enjoyed all this, and so did I.

She used some 4 clippers to put my hair up , so she could cut it from the back. My hair is really long, in the back 15 cm’s on top 19 cm’s … so this technique is needed, I always love this. My curls looked better and better during the cut. I think she cut max 1 cm off.

Then she got hold of the mobile hiarmaster-climason to let me dry, some mousse was applied first.

This time I only needed to pay € 24,- because, when you went to this chain of salons for 10 times you get € 5 refund.
