Not only it is possible to chance the outcome of a perm by using different permingtools, but also the way hair is wond around the rollers has an effect on the resulting curls.
Normally rods are put in in nice rows behind each other, here you see the rods hanging down and even hanging over each other. The result will be nice hanging ringlets.
You can combine that technique with bigger diameter permingrods to achieve bigger ringlets.
Or thinner rods.
This winding technique works best on medium to longer hair, and yes it takes a lot of rods. I can happen that 200 or even more indivial permingrods have to be wound in the hair. These perms are usally named “spiralperms” and are more expensive then regular perms, because of the extra work that it takes.
Next month I will concentrate on curls, the reslt of perms. In the upcoming months I will also do a shoot-that-question, you can send me questions per email at j_wagemakers@yahoo.com for that.
It is also possible to write a comment here on the blog, I can only add comments from a valid emailadres, so check your emailadres reguarly.
She is going for some permanent “waves” and she seems to enjoy it. Since the diameter of the used rods is quite big, the curls will become much less tight.
In this photo you see the permrods that are ussally used in America,so I call then american style permrods. Different color means different diameter and thus different curl. These rods have a rubberband and at the other end of the rubberband the closingplug of the permrod.
What do you think of this type of permingrods?
Let’s see those rods in “action”
And let’s hope we see more permrods in salons in action all over the world.
This BLOG is about me a man with a strong passion for perms. I know there are more men like me, men that get sexually exited over having a perm done, or seeing it done.
It all started when I was a child, I can vividly remember that in late 70’s / early 80’s salons for woman looked much more appealing to me. So many nice colors in the salon, and those capes with those nice patterns, rows of dryers and many woman in rollers or permrods, oh boy did I wanteed to know how that feels. But what then? Have real curls on me? Won’t I look “silly” , wont people think about me differently?
During my teenage years and puberty I started to do somekind of home-salon-play, using hairrollers we had at home. Later I even bought permrods and a saloncape. This playing around was a lot of fun to me , but ofcoarse not real. The dream of being permed for real wasn’t fullfilled untill 2006. I loved that time in the salonchair so much and curls on me seem to “work”, since then I haven’t looked back, I still get my hair permed and I still love it all.
Over the years I have met with many nice people online that share similiar feelings as I have. I am glad that I used this blog to show the world that if you want something you have to go for it, I hope this encourages others to do the same.
